COMMUNITY

We believe that connection and partnership create more opportunities for everyone.
So we promote and support organizations that foster connection and enable growth
for those who are in need of their work.

This is the style of yoga we practice at Lyons Den Power Yoga.

We are the only Baptiste Affiliate studio in Manhattan and are a huge proponent of Baptiste programs and trainings with Baron Baptiste and Baptiste Institute Faculty member. We speak from experience when we say that participating in just one of these programs will change your life.

Baptiste Yoga™ was founded by Walt Baptiste in 1940 and continues to evolve this day due to the guidance and leadership of Baron Baptiste and the Baptiste Institute.

The style is inspired by the hatha yoga teachings of Krishnamacharya and his students B.K.S. Iyengar and Desikachar, whom Baron Baptiste studied with personally from a young age.

The practice is designed to empower you with focus, training and insight you need to achieve consistent results in the most important areas of your life. It is a powerful, flowing practice done in a heated room and asks the practitioner to show up in his or her greatness.

Africa Yoga Project Educates, Empowers, Elevates and Expands Employability with youth in Africa using the transformational practice of yoga. Our vision is to create opportunities for youth to step into their greatness and become self-sustaining leaders in their communities. AYP was created in 2007 to train youth and to build the wellness industry so that previously disenfranchised adolescents from marginalized communities can earn a self-sustaining income as community leaders.

In turn, it enables them to build healthy, wellness-promoting communities. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, AYP serves diverse, marginalized, and vulnerable communities. Currently we are more than 200 trained yoga instructors both give back to their communities by providing free yoga classes to over 6,000 people in a single week in Nairobi, and earn a living teaching classes at our yoga studio, the Shine Center, and at other studios, companies, gyms and homes across Kenya.
